Audio Reality by Bruce Rozenblit
 This
book is an insider "tell all" about the marketing
practices of the "High-End" or specialty audio
industry. It teaches the audiophile the functions and
operations of the myriad accessories on the market. Essential
knowledge replaces "myths" with "facts."
All explanations use simple analogies, no math required. It
provides the fundamental science for electronics. The thrust
of the book is to obtain the maximum performance for the
minimum expenditure by teaching the audiophile how to
recognize false marketing claims through the use of science.
The second half of the book contains the actual commercial
designs of the author's company, Transcendent Sound, that the
hobbyist can build. Complete schematics, parts lists, and
checkout procedures are included. Projects include the highly
acclaimed and patented Transcendent OTL, the Grounded Grid
Preamp, the Super Compact 150W amp, the Cathode Follower
Single-Ended amp and a new phono preamp design. The author
demonstrates his innovative designs to the marketplace by
publishing them. Large, full page schematics (8 1/2 by 11) and
"lay flat" binding are easy for the hobbyist to work
from.

Blue
Note : The Album Cover Art
 "Edited
and annotated by a couple of Londoners, this is another
collection of Blue Note album covers. Now that we're
accustomed to the reduced size of the CDs, the impact of these
bold designs-particularly those by Reid Miles-is considerable.
How much did they influence sales? I can remember being
attracted to those for Jimmy Smith and Grant Green records.
Now they seem to be valued for sentimental or nostalgic
reasons, and sought with the zeal of stamp collectors." -
